7 tips on how to shed the winter weight and get fit for summer 

The winter season is filled with holiday festivities that often include a ton of high-carb sweets and overload of stuffing. The average American gains around 5-7 pounds during the winter season. However, it is never too late to lose the pounds before winter! Keep in mind that it takes hard work and a strict diet to help you start making changing your life for the better.

Tip #1: Drink Water  and plenty of it!  

Even with a healthy diet and hours-long workouts, skipping water consumption will cause dehydration and a decrease in your efforts of weight loss. It will affect the body’s overall performance, energy and overall potential to burn fat. Some people assume that drinking water will result in bloating, which is wrong. To get rid of bloat and excess water weight, you must consume more water. Make it a goal to consume half of your body weight in the measure of ounces. For example, a 150-pound woman should consume around 75 oz. a day. 

You can also add ice. Studies reveal how drinking ice-cold water will cause your body to work harder to maintain the body’s core temperature. This will mean that your body will ultimately burn a higher amount of calories than if you were to drink lukewarm water. 

You can also drink healthy dietary drinks such as protein shakes, freshly-squeezed juices, and smoothies. All fruity drinks will provide fiber and good sources of carbohydrates to help keep the body energized and well-nourished.

Just be clear to stay away from foods that lack essential nutrients and are filled with artificial and processed ingredients.
